eneers and ceramic crowns are restorations that are used to
improve our patients smiles and appearance. These are very life-like and natural in appearance.
Veneers are made of very thin porcelain ceramic and are placed on the teeth. Veneers are
used on unsightly teeth that still have a significant amount of sound tooth structure. A major
advantage of veneers, along with their very beautiful and natural appearance, is that very little natural tooth material has to be removed (if any) in order to place them.
Porcelain all-ceramic crowns are also very natural looking and in
some cases where there is not enough sound natural tooth material to apply a veneer,
a full ceramic crown is used instead.
The advantage of a full ceramic crown is that it can be placed on a tooth lacking a sound tooth
structure, thus increasing the strength of the tooth.
