New Patient Care
We welcome new patients to our dental practice and consider it great compliment when a patient is referred to our clinic. Many new patients are referred to our clinic by existing patients. Patients are also referred to us by physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other dentists.
New patients will either see us with an emergency (pain, infection, or fractured tooth such as a front tooth which is a cosmetic concern) or, most commonly for a new patient comprehensive examination. When a patient sees us for an emergency our focus is to take a thorough medical history, diagnose the problem, inform the patient and treat the immediate problem to relieve their pain. The patient will then have the opportunity to schedule another appointment in order to complete their treatment and comprehensive examination.
A comprehensive examination is performed to determine the overall health of our patients’ mouth, head, and neck area. The appointment will begin with a thorough medical history and include a facial muscle exam, temporal mandibular joint exam, oral cancer screening, examinations of the tissue and gums (periodontal tissues), and thorough oral hygiene instruction. At this time, a cosmetic evaluation may also be performed upon request. And if indicated, a complete series of dental radiographs will be taken.
